For whatever reason today I was thinking about Confucius. Maybe I was remembering a comment or joke from my clever brother (“Confucius say man who go to bed with itchy butt wake up with stinky fingers.”)? I don’t know. The random thought gave me the necessary push to find out EVERYTHING I COULD about the Chinese philosopher.
I went to the source of all information, the infallible wikipedia (the oracle of the MTV generation). Turns out that there’s a whole lot to learn from the big C. Go figure. My ADD brain came to an abrupt halt, however, when I got to one particular quote from he who “say”. It was a comment on political leaders: “He who exercises government by means of his virtue may be compared to the north polar star, which keeps its place when all the stars are rotating about it.” I was instantly reminded of a spectacular speech recently given by George Bush that a friend showed me the other day:
